What language(s) are supported within the software?

The phpPennyAuction script is by default in English, however translation to other languages is very easy. The script was built from the ground-up so that any changes to the language will be made instantly across the entire website. We now include a number of FREE language packs with both the Standard, Premium and Professional packages.

Do I need any technical experience to use this software?

Generally, no. The phpPennyAuction software was built with usability in mind and does not require any specialist knowledge to run and operate. In addition, we now include free installation with every order, so the phpPennyAuction support staff can take care of all the major aspects of setting up your website for you, should you require it. Those without experience may want to consider our most fully-featured option, the Professional package.

Are there any restrictions on the source code?

We have encrypted and obfuscated a handful of files in the software with ionCube to prevent the software from being illegally distributed, however the encrypted license files are completely redundant and have no other use. You can customize the software as much or as little as you want. All of the core parts of the software are open-source, only the license files are restricted.

Can I run the software on more than one domain?

Each license is locked to a single domain/server. If you’d like to use multiple copies of the software on different domains, you will need to purchase further license(s). We offer large discounts on all successive licenses purchased – up to 50% off the regular prices to new members.

I have an idea that requires customization – can phpPennyAuction create it for me?

Am I allowed to change the look and feel of the software?

Yes, you are free to customize the software as much or as little as you wish. We don’t impose any regulations or rules on what can be done with your copy of the software, unlike other providers. We also do not insist on a link back to our website, you can ‘white label’ your copy of the software if you wish.

Am I forced to link to your website from within the software?

No. You can remove all references and links to the phpPennyAuction website if you want to. Unlike some competitors, we don’t charge a fee to let you do this.

Can you create a custom template for me?

What are the server requirements for the phpPennyAuction software?

Can the phpPennyAuction software be run on a Windows (ASP) server?

phpPennyAuction is built in PHP and generally requires a Linux-based server. Please note that 90%+ of servers are Linux or Linux-based, so if you’re unsure, check with your host – it probably is though!

What level of support is provided?

We provide free “priority” support with the Professional package, which means your tickets are placed higher than those clients who are on our Standard or Premium packages – for full clarification see the Scope of Support page. We also provide LiveChat, Knowledge Base (available 24/7), a members-only Forum, training Videos, a customer Wiki and ticket-based support. We have personnel available 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assist with any problems you might have. Please note that we do not currently offer Phone Support, as this helps to keep down our overheads – of course, we then pass these savings on to clients, in the form of lower prices.
